Mrs. Joyce Ohenewaa Godly (nee Kwapong) brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as a dedicated gender and development advocate and the founder and executive director of the Women of Legacy Foundation.
With a distinguished background in academia and leadership, she holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in health services management, and has earned Executive Certificates in Strategic Human Resource and Labor Law and Application.
Mrs. Godly’s commitment to humanitarian efforts extends beyond her academic pursuits. She has honed her skills in advocating for women and children by actively participating in courses and programs offered by renowned international organizations like UNICEF, YALI, and the Federation of International Gender and Human Rights (FIGHR), a leading global policy and diplomacy organization specializing in women and children’s issues. Her advocacy work has been further amplified through various media platforms, including Ahomka FM, Ghana Crusader Radio, and the Association of African Universities TV.
As a diplomatic fellow with FIGHR, Mrs. Godly has had the privilege of developing a maternal health policy presented at the United Nations, African Union, and ECOWAS. Leveraging her network with Dr. Ameena Ali, the founder of FIGHR, she has engaged in virtual international speaking engagements on mental health and contributed to discussions on maternal health and gender-based violence.
Throughout her journey, Mrs. Godly has held numerous leadership roles, demonstrating her passion for effecting positive change in society. From serving in various capacities during her academic years to her role as the Women’s Commissioner of the National Service Personnel Association, Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, she has initiated impactful programs addressing social issues like teenage pregnancy and championed gender advocacy endeavors.
In addition to her professional roles, Mrs. Godly has contributed significantly to several non-governmental organizations, served on executive boards, and mentored young leaders with the West Africa Centre for Peace Foundation. She also served as General Manager of Today Ghana News TV, a startup media venture, where she played an instrumental role in its early stages and utilized the platform to discuss fundamental social issues and advocate for vulnerable women and children by conducting high-profile interviews with key public figures.
Mrs. Godly’s dedication to serving humanity, particularly women and children, is reflected in her philosophy that “If you have found something worthy of your best efforts, sacrifice, and tears, then you have found the most important pursuit of your life.” It is therefore through her unwavering dedication to serving humanity, particularly women and children, that she finds ultimate fulfillment and purpose.
